These positively delightful, spirited, adorable 6 year old twins belong to my son Gavin's long time speech therapist, Lea. She has been helping Gavin on and off for the past 9 years since he was 2 years old with his lisp. When his lisp got really bad last year, and I was without the insurance or means to get him treatment, she opened up her generous heart to working out a trade with me. This was amazing and quite fortuitous because Gavin had asserted that he would not go to anyone else. He ADORES Teacher Lea with all his heart and she is just marvelous with him. This past weekend I was able to finally return the favor and photograph her family and these vivacious little girls.
My affinity for twins is no secret by now. I LOVE multiples. I love watching them and documenting their interactions. I love observing their dynamics. I love figuring out their individual personalities in order to help me tell them apart when they are identical twins. In this case, Grace and Isabelle, while both very outgoing and friendly, were quite different in temperament and easily distinguished. Isabelle is the "older sister" (by a minute!) through and through. Calm, serene, poised and endlessly patient with her little sister. Grace is constantly bubbling with joy, energy and incredibly expressive. I don't think Grace stayed still or stopped moving for a NANOSECOND. I had to keep switching my settings nonstop to accomodate her vivacious spirit and perpetual motion! She and I totally hit it off and at the end of the shoot she declared that I was the "funniest person she'd ever met." Quite the compliment!
I had such a blast with this family and it was made all the more meaningful to me because of how long Lea has been in our lives and how very important she has been to my boy and how thrilled I was to finally meet her twins! She's a special lady whom we adore! Lea & Steve, I hope you love your sneak peek! ENJOY your images!!!
